The “Database of Public Speakers” or “Datenbank Öffentlicher Sprecher” (DBÖS) is a comprehensive and up-to-date collection of media, organizations, and individuals from Germany which contribute to public debates.

As part of our efforts to collect lists of “public speakers” and their Social Media accounts, we collected a list of all candidates running for the Federal Election 2021 in Germany (“Bundestagswahl”).

For the last weeks the whole world cannot look away from Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. This is also due to an ongoing ‘(dis/mis)information war’ on Social Media. To cut through the fog of war on Twitter, Philipp Kessling and I have compiled a dataset of almost all Tweets containing the word or hashtag ‘Ukraine’ in four languages: English, German, Russian, and Ukrainian.

On December 3rd, the SMO team held a virtual workshop together with partners within the Research Institute Social Cohesion (FGZ) on research with social media data.
